William Overton an Ironmonger, started his business at 30 High Street Wrexham in the same year Napoleon was defeated.

1845

The Ironmongery business in Wrexham is passed down to William Overton Jnr.

1862

Alfred Owen, J.P., of Wood Hey, Wrexham takes over as owner of the Ironmonger business at 30 High Street, Wrexham.

1884

E. F. Rogers & J. E. Jackson acquired the ironmonger business, whilst Alfred Owen retained a financial interest and remained on the board of directors.  J. T. Rubery is started by John Turner Rubery and his 2 brothers (Samuel & Thomas William), as an ironworks manufacturing gates & fences.

1893

Samuel & Thomas Rubery were replaced by trained engineer, Alfred Owen, who put £1000 in to purchase a share of the business.  J.T. Rubery put in £2000 and the company Rubery Owen & Co. was formed.
