Ludlow Food Centre

Shukers are proud to be associated with the Ludlow Food Centre. They are located just outside Ludlow off the A49, and have a rich background in the community.

The Earl of Plymouth’s Oakly Park Estate at Bromfield extends to some eight thousand acres situated just north of Ludlow. A royal forest in past times, Oakly Park was purchased by Clive of India in the second half of the 18th century and, although it is not certain that he ever lived there himself, the property has remained in the family through six generations since that time.

In 1950 Lord Plymouth started an in-hand farm on the Estate and built it up over the years to the four thousand, five hundred acre mixed farming enterprise of today, producing milk, beef, lamb, pork, and a variety of arable crops. Along the way, he was able also to set up and run a successful sand and gravel pit.

Now that his successors in business, Viscount Windsor and the family Board, have started the Food Centre, the group of companies based on the Estate comprises:

The Estate and Farm together are able to provide the meat and milk, together with much of the game, that are sold, either cooked or uncooked, in the Food Centre and in the Conservatory Barn Café.

Local

Over 80% of our produce comes from Shropshire and the surrounding three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Powys.

Fresh

We buy direct from the producers, in manageable quantities, and get it on the shelf as quickly as possible.

Seasonal

Flavours and climate are inexorably linked, and by running with the seasons it is easy to see why.

Handmade

Real food from real producers made on our own premises. Eight small productions units surround the shop floor.

Flavoursome and Tasty

Our skilled and knowledgeable staff strive to put together interesting and unusual combinations of flavours and textures, with a view to stimulating your taste buds.
