With a reputation firmly concreted in the Shropshire business scene, Shukers, known best for being the county's Land Rover dealership, is taking steps to grow and expand during the coming months.
With the Shrewsbury dealership refurbishment now complete, both it and the Ludlow dealership are now transformed into line with Land Rover's 21st century vision.
Work began on the Shrewsbury dealership in October 2010 with Phase One, which involved segregation and complete strip-down and refit of the main showroom. Ahead of schedule, Phase Two began in November once Phase One was complete, seeing the reception areas being completely transformed.
Vernon Hogg, company Managing Director says: "This has been a huge commitment from Shukers. Land Rover supplied a very finite and demanding specification to which we had to plan around.
"We sat down with our architects, interior designers and aesthetics experts to take the ideas Land Rover wanted to see and mould our own vision of the new dealership around these.
"It was a great opportunity for change, and with our customer-focussed design including intelligent and logical use of floorspace. We put a lot of thought into customer comfort and experience when in the dealership with our new Customer Lounge, including Wi-fi, a large HD TV and childrens' play area.
"This paves the way for a lot of the plans for 2011, which include the exciting launch of the new Land Rover Evoque and our own superb loyalty programme, Shukers Allegiance." he adds.
With a fantastic 2010 now behind the company, Vernon reflects on the past year, and what's ahead for 2011: "With a massive rise in Land Rover sales despite the credit crunch in 2010, we could well have been complacent with the success of the brand.
"However, we've been extremely busy with several new projects. We've strengthened our infrastructure with a massive investment in new technology. 2010 saw the launch of our Shukers.com used car showroom at Bayston Hill which has been a great success. And with the launch of our Subaru franchise at the Ludlow dealership, we have a very exciting new year." says Vernon.
Shukers Ludlow's Parts Manager Phil Jones also has exciting visions for 2011: "There are some great opportunities for Shukers in 2011, and we are aiming ambitiously high.
"Our new online parts and merchandise shop, www.shukersparts.co.uk, is taking our stocks of Land Rover, Subaru and BRM merchandise to the internet audience. With a significant investment in IT and staff, we are hoping the web-based shop will become as successful as our in-branch parts departments.
"And I am proud to announce our own very special 'value sharing partnership' loyalty scheme, Shukers Allegiance. We're operating the scheme by means of a loyalty card, which contains personalised, individual offers for the card holder to spend or redeem within the Shukers group of companies.
"The card is available to selected Shukers customers, whether Land Rover, Subaru or Shukers.com, and presents a physical means of rewarding them." Phil concludes.
With all these new plans coming to fruition, Shukers are making an investment in internal training for staff to ensure that the consistently professional and knowledgeable manner in which they deal with the public is maintained across the board.
