Director, alongside his brother Ernest, in 1930 following the death of his father. Llewellyn Rogers, his father's cousin, took on the role of Chairman as well.
Knighted in 1961, Sir Alfred was the chairman of the trust of BRM (British Racing Motors). BRM won the constructions title in 1962.
A tall and quietly spoken man who was deeply religious and devoted much of his time to welfare and civic duties. Although head of one of the largest privately owned companies in Great Britain, he was far from the popular conception of an industrial tycoon, and up until his take over of BRM, he ad little interest in motor racing.
